Large Print Mass Sheets

Design and Style

Since 2001 we have been producing a Mass Sheet for Sundays and Holydays in large print. It is designed using a clear typeface and a font size of 20. The Mass Sheet is usually one sheet of A3 folded to become four pages of A4. We often receive requests to print everything in one booklet, but we need to think of the weight of the booklet, especially as many people use the leaflets at home or in hospital. However, we do produce Lent, Palm Sunday and Holy Week, in booklet form and are considering this format for other times of the year.

How much does it cost?

The cost of a subscription is £20 if one set is being sent to one address. Multiple orders to one address enable us to give a discount. Parish orders of five or more copies usually receive a minimum of 5% discount, rising in line with the quantity ordered. Contact the office to receive a quotation. We now print in house which means more savings. If we gain an extra five individual subscribers every year then we are able to maintain the same running costs.

Who should use it?

Anyone can use the Large Print Mass Sheet (LPMS). If you parish provides a missalette, then in accordance with Disability legislation, a large print version should be readily available at no extra cost to the person using it. (The same applies to all printed materials!) CBS knows that parishes order copies for the sick who receive Holy Communion in their homes, hospitals use the leaflets, as patients cannot always find their reading glasses, and nursing homes receive leaflets too. Priests use them to assist in their presiding, and retired priests find them a real bonus! People with dyslexia often request our leaflets.

Is it available outside Great Britain?

Yes it is. We can post it to any country in the world.

Can I download it?

An email version is available. This will help people who prefer a larger font size. (Parishes should note that it is not necessarily cheaper to buy a one copy email subscription and then print copies on the parish photocopier!)

Beware

Some publishers produce a larger size version of their original publication. This is not always large print as defined by the See It Right guidelines, but a larger print version of the original. Their effectiveness is based on the individual’s own needs. Please be careful! Both versions have their uses, but in a world of marketing and profit, it is easy to be confused by the promotion.
